FAQ’s

  • No problem! I love working with people who are new to therapy. I am open to answer any questions and love to provide education. My hope is to provide a warm and encouraging environment and make it less scary to come in. Everyone starts their therapy journey somewhere, even therapists! I try to remember what that was like and give guidance along the way.

  • I believe everyone deserves trust and respect. I will help you by continually believing in your ability to become your best self. Together, we can find out who that is.

  • I recommend weekly sessions. Establishing a strong, trusting relationship between the two of us is essential before change can happen. Every other week sessions often don’t provide the closeness and momentum needed to reach your goals. However, I do prioritize people’s financial needs and time constraints. Some therapy is better than no therapy and a surprising amount can be done in even just a few sessions.

I am also open to twice a week sessions for clients that are under a lot of stress and need extra support for a period of time. This is often helpful after traumatic events, loss, major life changes, etc.

  • It’s very important to me to find a consistent time that works for you. I do offer evening hours Tue-Thu with my last appointment ending by 7:30 PM. I do not work on weekends.

  • Claro que si! Spanish was one of my first languages. However, lack of use as I grew up and spoke primarily English in school has left me most comfortable in English.

I still speak Spanish and understand it innately, so it is easy for me to work with you if your English is a work in progress or you’d like to share stories in Spanish, but please have patience that when I respond my Spanish is not perfect. In other words, todavia lo entiendo perfectamente, pero me demoro hablando a veces porque mi educación fue en los E.U y he perdido mucha habilidad.

  • Progress in therapy is very personal. Most people see progress when coming weekly over a period of several months. The timeframe depends on the goals and the type of condition you may have. Some mental health issues require long-term and chronic support, just like a chronic health issue would.

Some people feel best having a long-term connection with one therapist. This might involve periods where you are feeling better and take a break and then come back when they need help again.

My own take is that there is always something that can be worked on or processed in therapy. You can let me know when you feel ready!

As always, therapy is a two-way street and it’s a process you have to emotionally invest in for it to work. For all those reasons, each person’s timeframe is different.
